Refer to the SLOBs Board job descriptions for information on the various positions. You are encouraged to contact current Board members to ask about the responsibilities and time commitment for the position(s) in which you are interested.
Instructions:
- Students and their parents seek board positions as a pair. Thus, a SLOBs student member AND his parent must each submit their respective applications.
- The application process runs from Sunday, December 15, 2024 through 11:59pm on Friday, January 31, 2025.
- Applications must be submitted online. No paper applications will be accepted.
- The deadline for applications is January 31, 2025.
- YOU WILL BE ABLE TO EDIT YOUR APPLICATION! When you click submit on your application, it will send you an email with your responses. You can use the link in that email to revise your application until January 31. If you start your application but cannot finish it in one sitting, then simply put in a short placeholder answer for any of the required questions that you have not yet finished, click submit, and then come back and revise the application later.
Eligibility criteria:
- Nominees must have completed the minimum number of volunteer hours requirement from the previous academic year and fulfilled at least half the hour requirements by the end of January of the current academic year.
- Nominees must have attended at least two SLOBs general meetings through the date of the January General Meeting.
- Nominees, both member and parent, must have served, or be currently serving, as a Philanthropy Liaison.
- Nominees for the role of President/Co-President must be rising seniors and have held a position on the Board.
If you are interested in a Board position but concerned about meeting a particular eligibility requirement, please reach out to the Parliamentarian to discuss.
How the Nomination Process Works:
- A Nominating Committee led by the Parliamentarian parent will review the applications and nominate students and their parents for Board positions.
- The Nominating Committee is made up of one non-Board representative from each grade (all SLOBs members in good standing). They carefully review anonymized applications, taking into account volunteer hours as well as any feedback from partner philanthropies. The current SLOBs Co-Presidents serve as non-voting advisors, offering guidance on board needs and roles.
- New Board nominees will be notified by late March.
- The new Board slate will be announced in an early April SLOBs newsletter.
- Membership vote on the slate of nominees at the April General Meeting.
Please reach out to the Parliamentarians, Ryan Leahy at ryan_leahy78@icloud.com and/or parent Mimi Leahy at mimi_leahy@yahoo.com with any questions.
